Awake in the Earth

I have been walking. I have been out in the snow on the coldest days, listening to the silence of the trees. I have been down to the river and watched for a time the frozen flow. I have felt the icy breath of the wind like fingers across my skin, drawing the warmth very gently form my body. So. The spring comes agrows around us. The cold simplicity of winter gives way to a warming sun and leaf and flower.

Life begins to stretch from its long slumber and slowly learns to move again, to dance in the celebration of all things young and new. My old friend winter is covered with growing grass; the river breaks and the silence is swept away in a song.

Perhaps there is time, still, for all things to be young again. I love this earth and do not want to leave it.

If I can remeber to be young while I still have life, then I will have no regrets and I'll leave the world a better place than when I came into it. I will share the beauty I've seen with everyone I can. I will tell them about our brothers and sisters. They are the eagle, the crow, the wolf and the bear...all the animals. I want to share my hope and my dreams and my joy.
