In Quiet Wood / I Heard the Leaves Fall
I spent a good part of the last month out in the woods at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. There are places where it seems as if no man had ever come upon it, and the forest is still and silent and golden, the water a tapestry of still movement weaving into and over itself in unseen eddies and currents, the surface deceptively placid and calm. If you sit still enough, for long enough, the wildlife will reappear, but in this exact moment it feels as though you are alone with the wood and the wide world, golden light filtering through bough and branch kissing your face with soft fingertips of autumn warmth. --- 12" x 16" 9" x 12" Mixed Media on Canvas |

In this piece I've used mostly acrylic, but also a few texture mediums with a bit of sand mixed in for effect. Gold Leaf on the sun and a bit of oil here and there to finish it. The water pattern could have been a transfer or fabric which would have been pretty interesting, but I opted to simply paint it.
